I have mostly spent the National Holiday holed up in the Kude Labs office, preparing to head back to the US in one week. Thankfully a few friends here at least dragged me out to Shamian Island and Shangxiajiu yesterday. On the actual day of the anniversary, I wandered around the neighborhood, but the crowds kept me from venturing too far.
The morning of October 1st, the PRC staged a massive parade in Beijing. I caught a little via online video at the time, but just about nothing compares to Dan Chung’s video capture:
He’s also put up an article explaining how he shot the video with DSLRs.
My time in China is quickly winding down. After spending so long in Hong Kong, it’s been nice to be back in mainland. My Mandarin is improving again finally. So when we do return to Asia next year, I’m promising myself to always have a valid visa for the PRC and explore more of China.
