Cockamamie

By Jennifer Farr on Saturday, May 24, 2008

My latest hobby is complaining with my friend Jane, a tall intellectual Brit. The grumbling British attitude has spilled into my life. When living in a foreign land, not only does the mind open, but bad habits increase! Let’s be thankful that I haven’t picked up spitting in public.

So, Jane was mocking her participation in Guinness Book of World Records history. Some years ago, in Times Square at NYC, a crowd was given bracelets adorned with tiny bells. Before the ball dropped on New Year’s Eve, Jane joined the masses, chiming bells simultaneously to break the world record for most people ringing bells at once.

Of course I started complaining about my recent run-in with cockamamie Guinness Book of World Records. For the past two months I’ve endured one of the zaniest Chinese rap songs, played twice a day, in one of my kindergartens. To this song there is an accompanying exercise that’s akin to jazzercise in the ‘80s. China was aiming to break the world record for most people doing the same exercise simultaneously.

I was counted in the final record. Perhaps I’ll make Guinness Book of World Record history!!! I feel just as important as my friend Jane. And I’m just as grumbly about it.

You’d better teach us this exercise when you come to visit this summer.  I’m all pumped up and ready to go. :) Can’t wait to see you!

For someone who says she’s grumpy about the exercise, you sure look happy in the picture!  Does this have something to do with way back when Tracy used to force exercise on you guys???

Surely Aunt Linda you of all people know something about putting on a smile even in a ridiculous situation.  :-)  I’m just dealing with a different sort of politics.

Got my own cockamamie guniess record once… most people to ever jump out of one plane at one time or some such…it was called the largest mass tac parachute drop ever…don’t know if it still stands or not, but that was pretty stupid too!
